Motorcyclist Killed after Colliding with Suspected DUI Driver on Fair Oaks Ave at Washington Boulevard in Pasadena
Pasadena, California (January 1, 2017) – A 57-year-old Altadena man died early Sunday morning after his motorcycle collided with a suspected drunken driver in Pasadena, according to a police report.
The accident took place at about 4:39 a.m. early New Year’s Day between a motorcycle and a 2006 BMW X3 along Fair Oaks Avenue at Washington Boulevard.
As per the report, the rider was heading south on Fair Oaks when the BMW, driven by Shawn Antonio, 42, of Pasadena, made a left turn just in front of him.
The two vehicles collided and the rider was ejected from his vehicle.
Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the man to a local hospital where he died of his injuries.
Antonio, who reportedly has a previous conviction for drunk driving, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
The incident remains under investigation.
