Six people became seriously injured after a five-car collision in Van Nuys, CA, reported the Los Angeles Times.

According to Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department, the crash happened at around 6:00 AM at the intersection of Vanowen Street and Sepulveda Boulevard. The accident victims, whose injuries ranged from moderate to severe, needed to receive immediate hospital care. The Los Angeles Police Department reported one person in critical condition. This contradicts earlier reports indicating a fatality as a result of the accident.

The LAPD and the LAFD helped care for the victims at the scene of the collision.

A surveillance camera in front of MJM Network Computer Repair recorded the crash, which appears to have resulted from a white car running a red light and crashing into a waiting SUV.

Steven Mariscal of MJM Network confirms that the SUV driver was “just sitting there, waiting to do his turn at the red light, and this car comes and hits him. There’s no way he could have avoided that.”

The LAPD continues to investigate the incident.
