A California family has filed a wrongful death suit against a nursing home alleging that the facility was negligent in providing proper care after the man fell approximately two weeks after arriving. The suit alleges that this improper care lead to his death. The facility is being accused of nursing home negligence, elder abuse, and negligent hiring and supervision of the nursing home’s staff.

The man’s daughter visited him on July 5, 2015 and was informed he had suffered a fall. The daughter states that her father informed her he was thrown onto the bed by a nurse following the fall and told he could not get out of bed on his own. The man also told her that no follow-up care was received. The suit states that the family was not notified of this at the time it occurred.

The man was taken to the hospital the day after the family was made aware of the fall and died the next day in the hospital.
