Motorcycle Rider, 46, Dies in Fresno Motorcycle versus Car Collision
Fresno, California (December 15, 2016) – A motorcycle rider was killed Wednesday morning after colliding with a female driver at Figarden and Brunswick Avenue in Fresno, the Fresno police reported.
The incident was reported at about 10 a.m. yesterday.
As per the report, the 46-year-old male rider was riding his Yamaha V Star cruiser-style motorcycle and was heading eastbound on Figarden. At the same time, a Nissan Versa Note driven by a 31-year-old woman was traveling westbound on Figarden. Reportedly, the woman believed that a turn lane intended for eastbound traffic was intended for westbound traffic. She, therefore, drove into the lane and collided nearly head-on with the motorcycle.
The rider was critically injured in the crash and was rushed to Saint Agnes Medical Center for treatment.
Unfortunately, the rider succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the Nissan Versa driver remained at the scene and was interviewed by the police. The woman claimed that she was new to the area and was, therefore, unfamiliar with the roadway.
Airbags were deployed in the woman’s Nissan after the crash. Drugs or alcohol did not appear to be factors in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
