Allison Monroe Killed, 2 Injured in Donley County Rear-end Crash

Donley County, Texas (May 16, 2017) – A 12-year-old passenger was killed, and two other people were injured Saturday evening in a rear-end crash in Donley County, according to a report.

The incident took place at about 6:00 p.m. Saturday, May 13 on the eastbound side of Highway 287, about a mile west of Hedley, Texas.

As per the report, a 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by Katherine Monroe, 43, of Hedley, was traveling eastbound on Highway 287 when the driver slowed down to turn left across over. Erica Roberts, 34, of Amarillo was driving a 2016 Jeep Renegade, directly behind the Chevrolet. For some reason, Roberts failed to control her vehicle and rear-ended the Chevrolet.

Upon the impact, the Jeep burst into flames.

A rear seat passenger in Chevrolet, Allison Monroe, 12, of Hedley, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Katherine and her front seat passenger, a 10-year-old girl from Anson were airlifted to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Roberts was not injured in the accident.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
