When the big rig overturned, it began to leak fuel. By the time authorities arrived on the scene, the big rig had leaked at least at least 5 gallons of diesel fuel. This incident caused a frightening situation among police and medical officials as they tried to provide aid to the drivers of the vehicle. Diesel fuel leaks can cause explosions, so the authorities were instructed to operate on this scene with extreme caution. The police closed all lanes of traffic on the highway where the big rig was overturned and leaking fuel, which resulted in a major traffic jam and general chaos as the traffic was rerouted.
