On early Wednesday morning, a fatal accident occurred near the Hopyard killing one man. Hopyard road is located in Pleasanton, CA. The accident involved four cars and a big rig. The accident led to a big traffic snarl up as many individuals were heading to work. The accident occurred east of San Francisco.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer Ron Simmons, the crash occurred at around 5:55 on westbound I-580. Following the accident, the California Highway Patrol issued a traffic alert notifying motorists of an impending traffic snarl up. The California Highway Patrol was well aware of the possibility of traffic reaching the Altamont Pass in Livermore.
The three lanes on the Hopyard road were all blocked and there was no certainty of when the lanes would open up since time was to be taken to remove the crashed cars from the road. The identity of the road victim was not released together with name and age since family members were yet to be notified.
According to Patrol Officer Ron Simmons, no other person was injured in the crash and no more deaths were reported. The accident victim was from Brentwood. East Bay Times was among the first media to arrive on the scene of the crash. No photos or videos of the fiery crash were released to the public.
