PLEASANTON, Calif. – A man died in fatal car accident in Pleasanton on Stanley Boulevard when a sedan burst in flames Wednesday afternoon.
Two vehicles collided in a fatal accident. A driver trapped in one of the cars that ignited in flames died after crashing on Stanley Boulevard between Livermore and Pleasanton, reported to the California Highway Patrol.
Shortly around 1:20 p.m. California Highway Patrol received a report of a 2-car collision on Stanley Boulevard near Valley Avenue in Alameda County. A Honda sedan caught on fire had a trapped man inside, according to the California Highway Patrol. The man sustained injuries in the accident and paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the accident scene.
Initial information indicated the driver of the Honda sedan travelled west on Stanley Boulevard. As the man attempted to make a U-turn on the boulevard he entered the lane where the driver of a Jetta drove on the eastbound side, according to Offer Derek Reed.
Immediately the cars crashed and the Honda sedan ignited in flames.
The person driving the Jetta did not sustain any injuries, said Reed.
The California Highway Patrol issued Sig-alert warning drivers of the closing of Stanley Boulevard in both directions approximately 1:44 p.m.
