While traveling eastbound on Interstate Highway 80, one person died in a crash that involved a big rig. The incident occurred in the middle of the night, past three in the morning. The driver of the car was killed in the accident. Fortunately the driver of the big rig was able to survive. He did not sustain any major injuries at all.
The authorities suggested that this crash was a consequence of another crash that occurred earlier in the day. Since the lanes were blocked in an effort to clean the sight of the first accident, the big rig collided with the car as one of the parties attempted to change lanes to account for the closures.
The police do not think that alcohol was a factor in any of the accidents. They think that limited vision as well as obstructions on the highway were the cause of the unfortunate incident. They may also be the result of drowsiness due to accelerating at high speeds on the highway in the middle of the night.
A Sig-Alert was issued as a result of the crash. The highway was closed for several hours. Both lanes were blocked at one point in an effort to clear all of the wreckage from the highway and prevent further accidents from occurring that night.
