Man Dies in Orland Crash at County Road 9 and Sixth Avenue in Orland
Enrique Sanchez Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash at County Road 9 and Sixth Avenue in Orland, Glenn County
Orland, California (April 25, 2018) —A 55-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle collision Wednesday morning in Orland, Glen Country, according to California Highway Patrol.
The deadly collision happened at around 6 a.m. County Road 9 and Sixth Avenue in Orland.
According to the CHP, Craig Simons, 27, of Orland was operating a GMC westbound on County Road 9 at around 55 mph. 55-year-old Enrique Ramirez Sanchez of Corning was also operating a Ford Ranger south on Sixth Avenue at approximately 55 miles per hour when the ranger apparently entered the intersection of Sixth Avenue at Country Road 9 directly into the lane of GMC.
Authorities said Simons applied the brakes and turned to the left but was still not able to avoid the collision.
The crash sent both Simons’ and Sanchez’s cars in the westerly direction; however, Simons’ vehicle ended up on its wheels facing south-west south of the intersection while Sanchez’ car came to a stop on its wheels facing south-west south of the intersection.
