FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. – One person died and four people sustained injuries in a tragic crash on Interstate 5 in Fresno County.

An 18-year old male teen, driving a white pickup truck, died at the scene. His truck sustained the most damaged, and a passenger of the pickup truck received serious injuries due to the accident. A helicopter transported the passenger to a nearby hospital.

A big rig, one of the vehicles in the accident, did not stop for unidentified reason. The big rig collided in the rear of some of the vehicles involved in the serious accident, according to the California Highway Patrol Lt. Jason Elsome.

The Fed Ex big rig truck was the only vehicle in motion out of all of the five vehicles involved, according to the Commander of the California Highway Patrol Coaling Area Lt. Elsome.

The California Highway Patrol does know PG&E workers were working to repair a stretch of the intestate. Cones tapered off a section of the road indicating the road closure.

The tragic accident is still under investigation.
