In the span of two days, two motorcycle crashes in Bakersfield left one dead and three injured.

A March 17, 2016, Bakersfield single-motorcycle crash claimed the life of 22-year-old Marcus Allen Palos. Palos lost control on South Union Avenue in the area of Pacheco Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, he had been speeding before hitting a parked truck. The crash occurred just after midnight on St. Patrick’s Day. Palos was taken to Kern Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The cause of death was determined to be multiple blunt for injuries.

Just two days later, three more people were injured in a multiple-motorcycle crash in Northwest Bakersfield. On Friday night, March 19, 2016. Bakersfield Police reported that two motorcycles, both headed southbound, collided at the 4300 block of Coffee Road at about 9:40 p.m. An investigation revealed that one motorcycle struck the other from the rear. Two people were left with minor injuries but a third person had major injuries. Police do not believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the accident.
