Motorcycle accidents are up 25 percent in the state of California. On March 11, 2016, in Leimert Park, Los Angeles County, a group of motorcyclists were popping wheelies in the street. One almost hit an LAPD police car and took off down the wrong side of the street reaching speeds up to 80 mph. Near Martin Luther King Jr. and Leimert Blvd, the same motorcyclist crashed into an SUV, report the police.

This accident killed the motorcycle rider immediately upon impact. The impact was so hard that it broke his motorcycle into several pieces and dented the SUV. The driver of the SUV was visually unnerved by the impact, and he remained on the scene.

No alcohol test was given to either party.

In 2013, there were 8.4 million motorcyclists on the road. Statistics show that there were approximately 26 times more likely than drivers of cars to die in an accident.

Motorcyclists are five times more likely to be injured in traffic accidents than vehicles with four wheels. Riding a motorcycle is much more dangerous than riding in a car as the rising fatalities show. LAPD recommends wearing a helmet at all times to prevent more serious injuries.
