A motorcyclist who was killed in a four-vehicle accident on 710 Freeway on Rosecrans Avenue, which is located in Paramount and near Compton. The highway police reported that the collision occurred at around 12:35am. The victim was identified as 26-year-old Carlos Torres of South Gate. It was determined that Torres had passed on in the scene but whether he was killed instantly or passed on due to serious injuries was not reported. Officer Franscisco Villalobos stated that he could not determine whether Torres was on his motorcycle at the moment of the crash.

A SigAlert (this is defined as any unplanned event-usually a vehicular accident-causes the closing down of one or more traffic lanes for a half hour or more) was issued by the California Highway Patrol. All four lanes were shut down for clean-up and investigation immediately after the occurrence of the accident. All of the lanes were re-opened by 7:00am. That being said, the usual heavy traffic during the day was probably not affected and there was probably nothing too unsafe still lingering in the lanes.
