A man from Pasadena was killed Thursday in an accident involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck, according to Ed Winter, Coroner Assistant from the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner. The crash took place at 4:45 p.m. on the 210 Freeway at Sierra Madre Villa Avenue.

Isaias Vargas Jr., a 22-year-old man from Pasadena, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

A written statement released by the California Highway Patrol, reports that after Vargas finished merging over into the HOV lane, his motorcycle collided suddenly into a 2003 Dodge pickup truck after the driver of the truck slammed suddenly onto his brakes as a result of the heavy rush hour traffic on the freeway. The sudden stop forced Vargas to slam his motorcycle into the rear of the pickup truck.

The California Highway Patrol and officials from the Pasadena Fire Department, as well as individuals from the Pasadena Fire Department were present at the scene of the crash. They have confirmed the man driving the pickup truck, as well as his four passengers, sustained no injuries as a result of the collision.
