KTLA Pasadena Car Crash

Two people were killed and three others injured in a Pasadena car crash that occurred at around 7 a.m. on Wednesday morning. The accident occurred after a 2003 Ford Mustang and a 2006 Kia Sorrento collided sending the Mustang into a nearby pole. The crash left the Mustang wrapped around the traffic pole and required the efforts of the Fire Department to help save the occupants trapped inside.

The driver of the mustang succumbed to his injuries after being taken to hospital. He was 23 years old. The front passenger, a boy aged 17 years, died on the scene while two other passengers were moderately injured and are undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital. They were stable on Wednesday evening. All the four occupants of the Mustang were Pasadena residents and their identity was withheld from the public until their families were notified.

The Kia Sorrento was being driven by a woman from Los Angeles aged 46. She sustained only minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital to receive treatment.

The Pasadena Fire Department spokeswoman, Lisa Derderian, said that the accident occurred at 7 a.m. at an intersection between North Lake Avenue and East Villa Street. The true cause of the accident was unknown and is currently under investigation. Anybody with information about the accident was asked to contact Lt. Pete Hettema, Pasadena Police Department, at 626-744-7159.
