Los Banos – Two people were killed in a head-on collision in Los Banos early Monday Morning, according to the California Highway Patrol. The names of the victims have yet to be released.

It appears that one or both of the vehicles were speeding.

Police were called to the scene of the collision near Ingomar Grade Road. Both victims, a 32-year-old Los Banos man, and a 54-year-old Newman woman, were pronounced dead, according to CHP Officer Lance Velez.

At around 7:00 a.m., the 1993 Nissan driven by the man was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed near the Ingomar Packing Plant.

While attempting to navigate the curb, the vehicle crossed the center line and struck a 2012 Ford driven by the woman, who as traveling southbound.

The two drivers were the only individuals involved in the accident, according to Velez.

The crash caused traffic to be closed for several hours near Fahey and Ingomar Grade Road.

The victims names will be released pending notification of the next of kin, according to the coronor’s office.
