Mission viejo – A 27-year-old Mission Viejo man is being booked on suspicion of DUI after plowing into a home, killing one person.
According to authorities, the crash occurred around 3:00 a.m. in the 26000 block of Pacato Drive. Police say the driver was driving at a high rate of speed while heading down Olivera Street. He lost control of the vehicle and plowed through a bedroom of the home.
“All I heard was a loud boom. Then I looked out the window a few minutes later and saw all the police cars,” said a neighbor.
The dead man’s identity has not been revealed. Another unidentified person in the home was injured.
The driver, Kourosh Keshmiri, has a prior conviction for misdemeanor DUI.
Although the investigation is still in its preliminary stages, we are fairly certain speed played a role in the accident along with the alcohol, said Orange County Sheriff Lt. Jeff Hallock.
Keshmiri was also driving on a suspended license, according to police.
The incident is still under investigation.
