Two people died and two others got severely injured after when a driver failed to follow traffic rules and stop at an intersection in Raisin City, CA. According to California Highway Patrol Sgt. Manuel Peregina, emergency responders and police officers reported to the scene at around 5:52 pm.
Investigations revealed that a gray Pontiac Grand Am was hit by a blue Chevy S-10 pickup that was travelling west on Lincoln Avenue. The accident occurred on the area around Henderson Road and Lincoln Avenue. Passengers in the pickup belonged to one family but were not injured and one member of the family, a small child was taken to hospital for a quick and precautionary checkup.
The driver of the gray Pontiac did not survive the accident together with the left rear passenger. The rest of the passengers survived the crash and were rushed to hospital by air and ambulance.
Investigators are yet to establish whether the cars were over speeding and whether drugs or alcohol could be attributed to the accident. They also could not establish why the driver of the car failed to stop at the intersection.
Unfortunately there were no witnesses to the accident. The California Highway Patrol did not however release the details of the victims since families were yet to be reached and notified of the accident.
