A motorcyclist was killed on Highway 50 in Sacramento, California, Friday, Feb. 12th.
It is believed that two men, both on motorcycles were racing along Highway 50 when one of the cyclists crashed into a Kia Rio at around 5 pm. The man on the motorcycle did not survive. It is unknown if the other motorcyclist was injured, as he was not at the scene when emergency personnel showed up.
Witnesses at the scene, while confirming that there was another motorcyclist on the road during the accident, deny any claims made by officials that the two were racing. While some witnesses claim they were not racing, others see it a different way. One thing is for certain whether or not they were racing, they were indeed driving recklessly in consideration of density of traffic that time of day on Highway 50.
Emergency personnel and towing trucks were quickly on the scene. The debris from the wreckage was cleared by 6:30 p.m. but this did not stop traffic from being backed up for miles, all the way up to the northbound 51 transition lane.
