A 31-year-old man was killed in a single-car crash in Stockton in the early morning hours of Feb. 19. The crash occurred at approximately 12:50 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Police said Francisco Torres was driving his 2008 Dodge Caliber SRT south on Roberts Road when he lost control of the vehicle on a curve just before Muller Road. The Dodge veered from the roadway and plowed into a row of cypress trees.
Authorities said Torres was not wearing a seat belt and the collision caused him to suffer fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by the San Joaquin County Coroner’s Office. A 32-year-old woman was riding in the front passenger seat and suffered major injuries in the accident. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The CHP confirmed she was wearing a seat belt.
Investigators are attempting to determine if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. The accident remains under investigation.
