An as yet unidentified motorcycle rider was killed in the early hours of 28th April 2016 when his bike struck a raised curb entering freeway 14 in Santa Clara, California. The fatality took place close to Soledad Canyon Road and involved a 1999 Harley Davidson ridden by a 30 year old resident of Northridge; California Highway Patrol are investigating the incident to determine the exact details of the wreck, which may have involved another vehicle at some stage.

The accident occurred around 12.15 pm and is under investigation to determine what role a big rig played in the wreck following news breaking of the 2016 Freightliner striking the stationary motorcycle after the accident took place. The exact role the big rig played in the accident is unclear with law enforcement investigators currently questioning whether the truck struck both the motorcycle and its rider. Highway Patrol officials revealed the 30 year old motorcycle rider had died of his injuries with the closure of lanes in a southbound direction taking place soon after the crash took place.
