Five people were sent to the hospital, and four people were traumatically injured after a two-car crash on April 16th.

Police arrived at the scene of the collision around eight in the evening. The collision was at the intersection of Del Mar Heights and Camino Del Mar. The two vehicles involved in the crash were a Ford Explorer and a Kia Sul. Joe Tamaiko fielded questions from the media. He stated that when officers arrived on the scene the Kia Soul was in flames. All four passengers safely evacuated the vehicle and they were sitting on the sidewalk.

Firefighters were called to the scene, and they worked diligently to put out the flames. Once done, they began caring for the victims of both crashes.

The Kia Soul had four occupants total, and each occupant suffered injuries. They were transported to a nearby trauma center, where their wounds were treated. None of the wounds were life-threatening. The driver of the Explorer suffered a broken nose. The wreck occurred when the Explorer turned when it had a red arrow and the Kia Soul slammed into the Explorer. The Soul was not driving at an excessive speed, which probably prevented the crash from being deadly.

Police are still investigating the crash, but they still believe that drugs and alcohol did not play a role in the crash.
