On February 6, 2016 there was a fatal motor vehicle accident involving a young male pedestrian in Escondido, California. The police were called around 8:50 p.m. that night and although they attempted to save the young man’s life, the 18 year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver who hit the young man was an 86-year-old female who was driving a 2008 Toyota Corolla. The young man was hit as he was walking north on San Pasquel Valley Road. The police do not believe that the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident, though the driver’s speed has been confirmed. It has also not been confirmed whether or not the young man was walking in an intersection or not. The police have not stated if the driver was arrested, cited or if she will be charged with the death of the young man. The driver did stick around, however, so she will not be charged with a hit and run. Although the driver may not be given criminal charges for the accident, the family of the young man can still file a wrongful death lawsuit against her.
