A young man (aged just 23 years old) perished when he slammed his SUV into the cargo compartment of a big rig transporting a large amount of trash. The incident occurred at the end of the freeway exit ramp near the Mission Trails Regional Park.
The man’s name was Tyle De Guide-Rickard. It is said that he made the unfortunate mistake of running a stop light while driving at a recklessly high speed shortly after 5 in the morning. The California Highway Patrol reports that the young man was exiting Route 52 when the collision occurred.
Upon collision, the vehicle was trapped beneath the big rig with the De Guide-Rickard still inside. It was at this time that he succumbed to his wounds. Police report that he died at the scene.
When a young man is traveling at such a high speed, one would expect that there would be more than one fatality. The police report that nobody else was injured. This untimely and troubling news comes as a reminder to young people everywhere that they need to slow down and realize that vehicles need to be handled delicately. They are not toys. They are dangerous machines.
After the accident, the area was closed to all traffic for nearly five hours as the authorities cleaned the scene.
