Vacaville, CA – Two people were killed in a Sunday morning accident near Lagoon Valley Road.

The collision involved two vehicles and one pedestrian that was outside one of the vehicles.

A Vacaville police officer who witnessed the accident responded and administered aid before other emergency units arrived on the scene.

The accident occurred when the female driver of a 2001 Honda Accord struck a Jeep SUV. Apparently, the driver of the Jeep pulled to the side of the road because he was feeling ill. The other two passengers remained inside the vehicle.

The Honda driver, Latvia Jackson, 28, of Vacaville veered to the shoulder of the road and hit the Jeep, which in turn hit the driver.

Maria Ricon-Sierra, of Hailey, Idaho, a passenger in the Jeep was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other residents, also of Idaho, experienced severe injuries and were transported to Northbay Medical Center.

Jackson was pinned inside her vehicle. It took 20 minutes for the jaws of life to remove her from the Jeep. She was transported to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center for severe injuries. She died while in surgery.

Jackson is believed to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol when she crashed the Jeep.
