The family of a California woman filed a wrongful death claim after a gas leak was ruled the cause of her death. This claim alleges that this gas leak had been long lasting and had caused the woman’s health to rapidly decline. After months of suffering migraine headaches and declining health, the woman’s death was quickened due to this leak. The Aliso Canyon facility of the Southern California Gas Company is linked to the incident causing the death of a 79 year old woman stricken with cancer.
Other residents in this area have reported a strong gas like odor and have been complaining of similar symptoms. Even though the Los Angeles County Health Department has stated that there should be no long term health effects from the exposure to a gas leak, thousands of students were relocated out of the area. Other than potential health problems caused by a gas leak, there is a danger of explosion which can be triggered by the smallest flame. Anytime anyone has reason to believe there is a gas leak they should evacuate immediately and then contact authorities.
