Man, 53, Killed in Chino Hills Parkway SUV Versus Traffic Light Pole

Chino, California (January 7, 2017) – One person was killed and two others were injured after a car they were traveling in struck a traffic light pole in Chino early Saturday.

According to a police report, the accident took place at about 2:00 a.m. Jan 7 on Chino Hills Parkway.

The authorities said that 63-year-old Thomas Contreras was driving his 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe heading west on Chino Hills Parkway when for unknown reasons, the SUV went across the double yellow lines and struck a red light pole.

A 53-year-old man who was a front passenger in the SUV was killed in the crash.

Contreras and a back seat passenger were also injured in the crash and were transported to a hospital.

The decedent’s identity was not immediately released pending notification of next of kin.

The incident remains under investigation.
