Shingletown, California (January 11, 2017) – Two Shingletown residents were hospitalized Wednesday afternoon following a head-on collision on Highway 44 near Dersch Road in Redding.

The accident took place just before 3:00 p.m. when a 1990 Honda Accord driven by 55-year-old Curtis W. Holtan and a 1997 Toyota Corolla Driven by 60-year-old Shirley A. Bosteder.

Reportedly, Holtan was heading west on 44 when his vehicle, for unknown reasons, crossed over the double yellow lines into the eastbound lanes and came directly into the path of the Toyota Corolla. The two vehicles collided head-on and stopped in the middle of the road.

The two drivers were taken to Mercy Medical Center in Redding. Bosteder was hospitalized with major injuries while Holtan had minor injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
