Houston, TX:  Female Driver Struck and Killed by Car on Beltway 8 near Vickery Drive

Houston, Texas (April 17, 2017) – A female driver died early Saturday morning after she was struck by a vehicle when down in Houston, according to a police report.

The accident took place just before 2 a.m. on Beltway 8 near Vickery Drive, as per the report.

According to the report, a woman was driving eastbound on 8 Beltway, along with a passenger when their car developed some mechanical failure in the eastbound lanes of Beltway 8. Reportedly, the woman stopped the vehicle in a moving lane of the freeway.  Another driver tried to swerve to avoid hitting the stopped vehicle but clipped the driver’s side.

Both drivers got out of their vehicles after the crash. A third driver was unable to stop in time and struck the first car in the back on the driver’s side and also hit the driver who was standing next to her car.

Responding units pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

The eastbound lanes of Beltway 8 were shut down as officers investigated the incident.
