Francisco Zendejas Dies in Indio Hit-and-Run Crash on Calhoun Street near Taurus Avenue

Indio, California (January 3, 2017) – According to a report by the Riverside County Fire Department and Indio police, an Indio man was killed Thursday evening following a hit-and-run crash in Indio.

The accident occurred at about 5:30 p.m. on Calhoun Street near Taurus Avenue.

According to the report, the victim, identified as Francisco Zendejas, 42, of Indio was crossing the road when a full-bodied light-colored pickup truck hit him. The driver of the pickup truck fled the scene after the collision.

Francisco was pronounced dead at the scene. It was no clear if Francisco was inside a crosswalk when he was hit by the vehicle.

The incident remains under investigation.
