93-year-old Man Killed in San Francisco Pedestrian Accident at Mason and Filbert Streets
San Francisco, California (March 21, 2017) – As per CBS San Francisco, an elderly male pedestrian was fatally struck by a cable car in San Francisco Sunday afternoon.
The accident occurred at about 3:10 p.m. at Mason and Filbert Streets in the Russian neighborhood.
As per the article, police mentioned that a 93-year-old man was crossing the street at Mason and Filbert in the crosswalk when he was struck by the San Francisco Municipal Railway cable car, knocking him down. The victim was transported to a hospital where he died of his injuries.
His identity had not been released pending family notification.
The cable car service was stopped for more than one hour because of the crash. It resumed to normal after 4:30 p.m.
Authorities are still investigating the matter to determine the cause.
