One Dead, Big Rig Driver Flees Scene In Vernon, California

After a terrifying and deadly crash, the driver of an 18 wheel big rig truck unhitched the trailer from his truck and then fled the scene out of fear. He apparently hoped to evade authorities and any questions that might have arisen about what occurred on that day. A pickup truck was crushed under the heavy weight of the big rig. The men in the vehicle were left inside and not attended for when the the driver fled the scene of the accident. There is an ongoing investigation into the identity and whereabouts of the driver of the big rig.

It is said that the incident occurred shortly after 3 AM, when the 18 wheeler ran a red light and collided with the pickup truck. Since the big rig driver was clearly at fault, he fled out of fear to avoid charges of vehicular manslaughter and probably to protect his employment status.

When the driver fled the scene, the trailer was laying on its’ side, crushed the truck underneath its’ weight.

There was one fatality. A passenger in the pickup truck died at the scene. One is left to wonder if he would had survived had the big rig driver called the authorities. The driver of the pickup truck survived and was taken in a local hospital.
