Los Angeles – A pedestrian was struck and killed in a crosswalk near Slausson Boulevard on Thursday night around 11:00 p.m.

According to witness accounts, the man was walking in the crosswalk when a vehicle struck him. The man was hit with so much force, that he was airborne. As bystanders ran to the man’s aid, the vehicle fled away down South Grammercy Place.

Officers arrived to find the man laying in the street.

The man, described as in his early to mid-30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The car was described as a dark-colored, late-model Kia Optima.

An APB was release on the vehicle, and the car was eventually found in Inglewood’s Chester Square neighborhood. Damage to the vehicle was consistent with a striking a pedestrian.

The driver was arrested and could be facing charges of fleeing the scene of an accident and felony hit and run.
