DEL MAR- Around 7:55 p.m. Saturday night, deputies were called to the scene of a fiery crash North on Camino Del Mar.
Two vehicles collided when the driver of a Ford Explorer turned left onto Del Mar Heights Road, running a red light and hitting a Kia Soul. Witnesses told investigators that it did not appear that the Kia was speeding at the time of the crash.
A Sheriff Sargent said someone called 911. When deputies arrived they found four people,on the sidewalk and the Kia in flames.
Although there seemed to be no life-threating injuries, all victims were sent to area hospitals to be evaluated. The driver of the Ford Explorer was sent to the hospital for a broken nose. At this time ,the Sheriff’s office and the deputies, do not think that alcohol or drugs played a role in this fiery crash, which could have resulted in a much more devastating circumstance.
All five people injured in this accident are expected to make full recoveries. We will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
