Raisin City, CA : Two People Dead After a Crash in Fresno County April 30, 2016
Two people have died after the driver of their vehicle failed to come to a complete stop at an intersection Saturday afternoon northwest of Raisin City.
CHiPs Sgt. Manuel Peregrina, responded around 5:50 p.m. to Henderson Road and Lincoln Avenue after the Pontiac Grand Am was hit by the Chevy S-10 pickup that was traveling west on Lincoln Avenue.
The driver of the Grand Am and one rear passenger were killed instantly impact. According to the officer who responded on the scene, they are still investigating whether alcohol or drugs may have played a role in the accident. He also said that neither driver appeared at this time to have used their brakes before impact.
CHiPs also said that investigators could not determine at this point if any of the vehicles involved in the accident were speeding that afternoon. He was unable at this point to determine why one vehicle blew through the stop sign without slowing down or stopping.
The responding officer noted that this intersection is the scene of many vehicle accidents over the years. He also noted that at this time, there were no witnesses to the accident.
All the names and the ages of the people killed were not immediately released.
