A 16-year-old unlicensed driver collided with 22-year-old motorcyclist from Hesperia, who suffered major injuries in the incident that occurred around 12:46 p.m. The motorcyclist was heading northbound on Seventh Avenue close to Sequoia Avenue when the car driven by the unlicensed 16-year-old stopped at a stop sign but continued into the path of the motorcyclist whose only option was to impact the car near the driver side door. He was ejected from his motorcycle and came to rest underneath the car being driven by the 16-year-old. The man sustained a broken arm along with other serious internal injuries. The accident happened on Seventh Avenue, south of Bear Valley Road, and was reported by Sgt. Doug Hubbard of the San Bernadino County Sheriff’s Department.
The injured man was transported by helicopter to the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for treatment. The 16-year-old suffered injuries to her face caused by broken glass fragments and was taken to Victor Valley Global Medical Center.
Sgt. Hubbard discovered that the teenaged driver was unlicensed and added that there were two other occupants in the car. Her grandmother and a 12-year-old boy in the car were not injured.
Authorities blocked off the area; a tow truck removed the vehicles, and the scene was cleared by 2:00 p.m.
Alcohol and speed did not play a part in the accident.
