A motorcycle operator was riding the lines between lanes #2 and fast lane. A female driver intended to merge into the fast lane directly in front of the motorcycle. The motorcycle then crashed into the rear of the woman’s automobile. The motorcycle driver was thrown off the bike and landed approximately 40 or 50 feet on the roadway in front of the woman’s car. The driver of the motorcycle was not responding at the scene and was thought to be unconscious for at least 10 to 15 minutes. When paramedics arrived, emergency treatment was rendered.
The name of the motorcycle driver was withheld and his condition was unknown. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were an issue in this accident. Police were not responding to inquiries.
Traffic was backed up for about a mile, causing a “gaper’s delay”. Police at the scene directed drivers and kept the accident scene secure. The driver of the motorcycle was transported to a local hospital for further medical treatment.
Both vehicles were towed away but it is unknown if the driver of the car would be charged.
