San Fernando Valley: SUV kills West Hills Mother and Daughter out walking dog
The Mitsubishi SUV fatally struck the 69 year-old mom and 30 year-old daughter as they began to cross the street. “They had just entered the crosswalk as they were hit,” said LAPD detective Bill Bustos.
Police say the scene was chaotic when they arrived, and residents had begun CPR on both victims. The driver of the SUV remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Medics pronounced the 30 year-old daughter dead at the scene, and the 69 year-old mom was rushed to a nearby hospital where she later died. The Labrador retriever also was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said the SUV driver side airbag was deployed and windshield shattered.
The driver of the SUV is a California resident, although the vehicle is registered with New York tags. As of now, no charges have been filed against the driver of the SUV.
