Smyer, Texas (April 11, 2017) – An 84-year-old woman was killed, and five other people including three children were injured Tuesday morning in a three-vehicle collision in Smyer, according to a local news source.

The victim has been identified as Betty Yeary from Levelland.

The fatal accident occurred at about 7:47 a.m. today at the intersection of TX 114 and FM 168.

According to the article, Yeary was driving a Buick and was trying to make a left turn from the eastbound TX 114 onto FM 168 when she failed to yield to the right of way to a GMC pickup that was westbound on TX 114.

The Buick and the pickup collided, and both vehicles went into a ditch near the service road and the westbound lanes. Reportedly, another vehicle, a Silverado pickup, which was stopped at the stop sign at the north service road was involved in the accident.

The 84-year-old Levelland woman was taken to Covenant Medical Center by AeroCare. Unfortunately, the woman later died from her injuries. Three passengers, a 5-year-old, an 11-year-old and a 13-year-old, were also taken to Covenant Medical Center with unspecified injuries.

Drivers of the two pickups sustained minor injuries in the accident.
