A bicycle rider, an unidentified man was hit by a truck around 7:45am on April 5th while riding on 12000 block in Ventura Place. Ventura Place is a street between Ventura and Laurel Canyon Boulevards.
Since the start of the year, this is the first most fatal accident in the city of Los Angeles.
It was said that he was riding west when he was struck by a truck. The truck, however, was entering the intersection during the accident.
The biker was pronounced dead at the scene. Most of today’s media have reported several different stories about this fatal accident. According to Daily News, he was identified as a 42-year old man.
Couple days later, he was identified as Cairo Joseph Castaneda, age 42. The accident happened, as mentioned, at 7:45 am, and he was declared dead at 7:50 am. That following morning he was on his way to work.
According to many upset bikers, there’s literally no bicycle- friendly road, and that is the reason why these things happen very often. Bicycle riders are one of the most vulnerable on the streets of L.A.
On the road, where this man died, bicycle riders put a white bicycle with flowers for the memory of this brave man and many more who’ve had the same destiny as he did.
