A construction crane accident near the intersection of La Cienega and Sunset Boulevards in West Hollywood claimed the life of a Southern California Edison contractor, according to a Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesperson.
The late afternoon accident, on March 22, 2016, is classified as an industrial accident. It’s believed the Southern California Edison contractor was crushed between what is thought to be a storage trailer and the crane. EMS responders to the accident transported the construction to a nearby hospital, where doctos pronounced him dead, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Vance Duffy.
Officials from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Los Angeles County Building and Safety, and the State of California arrived at the scene of the accident, shortly after the crane accident, and began their investigations

The site of the accident, managed by real estate developer The CIM Group, will be a 296- room hotel and 15,000 square foot retail complex. La Cienega Boulevard was closed to public access because of the construction, and will stay closed pending the completion of agency investigations, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The identity of the Southern California Edison contractor was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
