Two female pedestrians struck by different vehicles were killed within hours apart Saturday in the Coachella Valley area at opposite ends of the road.

A pickup truck hit and killed Naomi Bruce in Indio, California. Within 14 hours, a motorcycle driver struck Lorraine Saucedo-Murillo in Desert Hot Springs, California approximately 25 miles from the first accident, reported the Riverside County Coroner’s office on Sunday.

A Toyota pickup struck 66-year old Bruce about 7:00 a.m. at the intersection of Fred Waring and Heritage Palms Drives. According to the Riverside Coroner, Paramedics pronounced Bruce, an Indio resident, dead on the scene.

Indio Police Sgt. Dan Marshall stated, the 66-year old woman took her dog for a her daily sunrise walk along the street when a pickup hit both of them. Bruce’s border-collie, named Tilly, died at the scene of the fatal crash also.

The driver of the pickup stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police officials, reported investigators.

Police believe nether drugs or alcohol contributed to the both of the fatal accidents on Sunday.
