BOULDER OAKS, Calif. – An 18-year old teenager from Campo died in San Diego’s East County close to the La Posta India Reservation early in the morning while driving to pick up his great-grandmother in Alpine, reported the California Highway Patrol on Saturday.
The male teen drove an Acura TSX on Interstate 8 going westbound when he lost control of his vehicle. He collided into the railing on the right shoulder of the La Posta Road Bridge. His car spun out of control towards the center median and propelled down the embankment several feet.
The Acura TSX tumbled down the hill numerous times, discharging the young teen driver out the car. The California Highway Patrol stated, the 18-year old victim was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the deadly crash.
The driver’s family report the teenager missing a few hours later when he did not arrived at 6:00 a.m. to pick up his great-grandmother. The California Highway Patrol and Sheriff’s Department received the report of the missing teen at 12:30 p.m.
An officer for the California Highway Patrol located the fatal wreck approximately 1:00 p.m. the same day.
The teenager was the only person in the vehicle. The California Highway Patrol reported it did not see evidence of any other injuries involved in the fatal car crash.
The Sheriff’s Department has not released the 18-year old victim’s name.
