SAN DIEGO — The driver of an SUV was killed when crashing into a trash-hauling big rig on Wednesday morning. The crash occurred near Mission Trails Regional Park. The driver of the SUV was 23 year old Tyler De Guide-Rickard, a resident of Spring Valley.

The California Highway Patrol stated that De Guide-Rickard allegedly ran a stoplight while exiting Rout 52 headed onto Mast Boulevard. The accident occurred at approximately 5:15 am, with the driver of the SUV traveling at a high speed. Both East and West SR-52 exits to Mast Boulevard were closed for authorities to investigate the scene and clear the roadway.

When De Guide-Rikard struck the semi truck that was traveling eastbound, he crashed into the cargo trailer. This wedged the SUV under the semi, leaving the driver inside the vehicle injured mortally. It was reported by the California Highway Patrol that he died at the scene of the accident. No others died or were even injured in the accident according to Dan Lasher with the San Diego Police Department.
