Dublin, California (February 16, 2017) – A 63-year old male pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Wednesday morning in Dublin after the attempt to avoid hitting him failed.
According to the report, the incident took place at about 1.15 a.m. on 580 Freeway at Hacienda Drive on-ramp.
The victim was identified as 63-year-old Jessie Lazos. Lazos was fatally struck dead by a driver of a Chevy Impala that was heading west on I-580. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.
Reportedly, the Chevy driver say Lazos was walking eastbound in the westbound express lane and tried to avoid hitting him, but it was too late.
The driver stopped at the scene after the collision and called 911.
The police say that both the driver and the pedestrian were not under the influence. No other details regarding the crash were provided at this time.
