Sansom Park, Texas ( May 11, 2017) – A 2-year-old girl was killed Tuesday evening from injuries sustained when she was hit by a suspected drunken driver two days earlier in Sansom Park, just outside Fort Worth.

Alondra Mendez was struck by a vehicle about 7 p.m. Sunday, May 7, in the 5600 block of Calloway Street, near Jacksboro Highway.

According to the report, Mendez was crossing the street outside her home when she was hit by a vehicle. She was transported by ambulance to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth, where she succumbed to her injuries at 10:50 a.m. Tuesday, May 9.

The driver of the vehicle, a 40-year-old Sansom Park resident, was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

The man remained in jail Wednesday and faces an intoxication manslaughter charge with bond set at $50,000.
